What to look for in a deer hunting spot to buy?

- Water source

- Thick cover

- Open areas

- Other animals- turkey, squirrels, etc.. if other animals don't want to live there, deer sure 'nuff won't.

- Oak trees, food for them- no food, no critters

- Not a lot of human traffic- you don't want a lot of folks finding your 'honey hole'

- Secluded- if you want to hunt it bad enough, you'll walk as far as you have to lolWhat to look for in a deer hunting spot to buy?
There are a few things that deer will need to feel comfortable. There has to be some higher grassy areas for them to bed down in for safety. They like pine trees because on a hot day they will eat the needles and when it is crappy out they will bed under them. A thicket is good to have so it provides a safe haven for the deer to go to if they feel threatened. You want to look for physical signs as well. Highways that show repetitive usage of deer. Tracks are obviously signs that they are there. Wintergreen berries are good to have. Wild strawberries, clover, some grasses...all of those are good to have. Oak trees are good because that will provide them with a food source that they love. Signs of other animals there are good too.... that doesnt necessarily mean that there are deer there but it proves that the spot you want to hunt will support animals and they feel safe. They want shaded areas and sunny areas...open areas and wooded areas...

I hope there are deer and that you get one...good luck and feel free to email me with anymore questions....What to look for in a deer hunting spot to buy?
Did someone put out troll bait...they sure are around.....lets report this scum nicksbjj

Do you mean you are buying a spot to hunt or what to buy for a spot you have?

Deer trails and signs of Deer.......A tree stand and some corn. If there is a pond or good fresh water for a deer you will find tracks. Deer like plants and flowers and berries to eat and love my apple trees and sometimes they eat peach and plum and grapes too.....I have them in the yard all the time trying to eat the goodies.

They like good cover as well not far away.....
well you are looking for a place that has alot of acreage with openings, places of natural feeding like apple trees, clover, etc, a water source that is near a convenient tree to put a stand in, and maybe some land near state land or a nature preserve (somewhere where they won't put a huge development up which disallows you to hunt).
Road access, a water supply, plants which deer like to eat. Someone else will likely have additional suggestions.
