Is there a rule for determining plural forms of words like Deer, Fish, ect?

Like if you where to say an unrecognized name, like somthing made up, is there a rule determining how the plural form is said? Like, if I were to make up the word ';deer'; Is there a rule making it's plural pronounced ';deer'; ? Thanks. Is there a rule for determining plural forms of words like Deer, Fish, ect?
No. You've just got to learn them and remember them (like we all did).

Add an ';i'; to the end of everything, it makes it sound futuristic and awesome.
No, they are exceptions to the rule.
