Significance of a severed deer's head placed in front of a house, in voodoo, folklore, old wives' tales, etc.?

The other day, I drove through a neighborhood. There was a severed deer's head in the street just in front of a certain house. I have seen this before, but at different houses in different neighborhoods. Does it have any particular meaning of any sort?Significance of a severed deer's head placed in front of a house, in voodoo, folklore, old wives' tales, etc.?

In my neighborhood, it would have meant that someone bagged a deer and tied the head to the front grill of their car to bring it home. Obviously, they were better at shooting the deer than tying it to the car for transport. You didn't find the rest of the carcass in the next block by any chance did you?
